Hotel Tropicana

Great location. Very friendly staff. Right on the beach. Nice pool and restaurant on premise. Super convenient. Walking distance to town, restaurants, shops and more. Hotel rooms are basic, but clean. Beds need to be upgraded with more comfortable mattresses. Major disappointment is lack of WiFi in room. Even in the lobby, WiFi is quite weak. Regardless, we'd return for a short weekend stay given the fantastic beach front location.

Wonderful location, great view and very reasonable price.

Due to some delays with travel My husband and I checked into Hotel Tropicana around 6:30 pm. I had chosen what type of room I wanted through Hotels.com and paid for it- standard room, non smoking, king bed and balcony. To my dismay, we were led through dank, old looking hallways to a room on the very end of the third level. When I opened the door I was disappointed to see 2 full beds in a tiny, dingy, smoking room. Were my husband and I supposed to sleep in separate beds?! There was a balcony but the view was of the alley. Not a big deal. Our bathroom was gross though.The shower and sink fixtures looked like they had been replaced and cemented into a cracked wall for a quick fix and the shower itself looked very used. As I took a shower I could hear the man in the adjacent room breathing and humming in his shower to the music that was playing in his room. That was a little unsettling knowing he could probably also hear every move I made in the shower and every breath I took as well. The beds were the hardest beds I've ever seen in my life, like wooden boxes. I don't even know how any human could sleep on one. And I'm glad we didn't sleep there because when we had pulled back the sheets a little bit there was sand spread across the bed. When I complained to the front desk they said they didn't have any rooms like the one I requested and we were stuck with that one. So we left. There was no way I was spending my last night in Mexico in that crappy, smelly, and stuffy room.

Beautiful resort, older style rooms with very hard beds.
