    Vi Fire Café & Interiør

Delicious food and photo opportunities for your feed

On the surface, Vi Fire Café & Interiør looks like a peaceful place to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat. But if you look a little further, you'll notice that this place is actually also where some people work, complete with its own office landscape. The interior design here is among Scandinavia's finest. Those who work here, either in the café or offices, are very aware of the trends they set for the city.

Remember to ask before you take pictures of people and post them on social media.

Get up high for some great pictures of the city

If you look down over the capital of Trøndelag from this vantage point in Byåsen, you'll be rewarded with beautiful photo opportunities to share on social media. This viewing point is easy to get to and adapted for visitors, despite the fact that it is partly located in a residential area with many private homes around it.

It's just a short walk from the nearest stop. The nearest, Bygrensen, is a six-minute tram ride from St. Olavs gate in the centre, and less than ten minutes walk up to Utsikten itself.

This cobbled gem is tucked away, but well worth a visit

Hospitalsløkkan is one of the most idyllic districts in Trondheim, sandwiched between Skansen and Midtbyen. It starts at the end of Dronningens gate, and the experience is best if you come on foot from that side, away from the sea of people on 'torget' behind you.

As you leave the bustling life in the city centre behind, you'll notice that the road surface turns to cobblestones and the buildings get a distinct historical feel. This place is full of photo opportunities, so get snapping! Hospitalsgata and the Hospital Church are particularly worth capturing on camera.

    Leif Eriksson statue

    With his gaze fixed westward

Norway's emigration history is both long and multifaceted. Many Norwegian emigrants found their way to the United States during the second half of the 19th century, especially to the northern and northwestern states. A Leif Eriksson lodge was established in Seattle, and it was this group that gave the statue to Trondheim during the city's 1000th anniversary in 1997.

The statue stands and looks westward, as though looking towards the new world. For a really special and popular photo, point the camera at the sunset and capture Leif's head in the backlight.

    Gamle Bybro

    A true Trondheim icon

    • Фото

Few sights in Trondheim get as much attention as Gamle Bybro. Bridges have been a feature of the city since the end of the 17th century, but the current construction is from 1861. In folklore, it is only called Bybroa, but many also like the nickname "Lykkens Portal", the name given to it in the city's song «Nidelven stille og vakker du er».

It is closed to car traffic, so it's easy to walk around and take pictures from just the right angle. Just remember that cyclists can whizz past here at very high speeds!

    Along the Nidelva

The artery of this old Trøndelag capital

    • Фото

The Nidelva is the main river in Trondheim, and has been the most important traffic route through the city and from the inland for a very long time. Once motorways and train lines appeared, the river was no longer an essential transport route for industry.

Which is a good thing. Walking along the Nidelva is now a lovely thing to do, either from the city centre and out into the surrounding districts or vice versa.

Whether you just want a short walk or to hike for several hours, you're guaranteed plenty of pretty scenery and photo opportunities for your newsfeed.

Come out to Bygmarka! Trondheim's beautiful outdoor area is a delight to visit, both in summer and winter. Here you'll find 80 square kilometres of fields and forests, and you can make your visit here as easy or as challenging as you like. St. Olavsspranget is a popular exit point in Bymarka, and it's easy to get here by both public and private transport.

The nearest stop is Skistua, a short bus ride from the city centre. It's an easy walk- just allow plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and your packed lunch.

    Megaphone at Ladehammeren

    Talk to anyone who'll listen

When NTNU turned 100 in 2010, the university presented Trondheim with a gift. This 'megaphone' is located at Ladehammeren and goes straight out to the fjord. The large, conical installation is 18 metres long and 6 metres wide at the end, and it weighs many tonnes.

If you stand at one end of the tube and shout into it, you'll hear your own voice carried out over the fjord - and it feels quite extraordinary! The shape of the megaphone is a natural opportunity for plenty of profile shots.

Great outdoor area, a little up in the hills and west in Bymarka

For the more experienced hiker, Bosbergheia should be on the list of places to visit and to capture on camera. You can take a car or bus to Klefstadhaugen - public transport requires a couple of changes - and from here you just have to start walking the trail, which is about six kilometres long.

Bosbergheia is located almost 600 metres above sea level and gives you a wonderful view of Fosen, Orkanger and other places in Trøndelag. Remember to bring a packed lunch as this is an all-day trip, especially if you don't have a car.
