The staff were fantastic, but the hotel was very dated with really old towels. Loved the location, really out of the way and met lots of locals. The rooftop restaurant and pool were great. I would stay again.............

All aspects of this hotel met and exeeded expectations Food - superb , restaurant and breakfast all good Staff friendly and attentive at all times Location was 2 mins Taxi from Seminyak centre - 5 mins from beach. Will definately stay again.

This hotel is very isolated, not close to shops and restaurants. There is no kid swimming pool. Food is just ok. As it is a wet season, it is hard to borrow umbrella. I have asked an umbrella at the reception, lady doesn't want to give it to me, so I never ask them again. Facility in the room is not good, easy to get broken and if anything is broken, […] they will charge to the room. It happens to me with the shower head. When I had a shower, the shower head is suddenly broken, they charged 250rp (25 Australia dollars). This make me uncomfortable to use the facility in the room and hotel since then. There is a kitchen, but nothing for us to use for cooking. Overall I don't recommend you to stay at this hotel. It will make you upset and ruin your holiday. Подробнее

Certainly doesn't deserve a 4 star rating. It's advertising information is totally misleading, almost laughable, as it was nothing like it claimed to be. Very disappointing!

Excellent rates, good room, wonderful service and pool is great. Downside is the location is inconvenient if you don't have a paid driver, toilets and towels are really old.

We loved the hotel, it was away from the hustle and bussle which after a day of shopping we loved. We went in off season so it was nice and quiet. Room service was good and they make lovely sate chicken. We stayed on the top floor and could watch the sun set each night

A welcome treat to arrive from any long flight journey. Surrounded by the few remaining and precious rice fields in Seminyak, the Umala's sits quietly on a cozy quiet road, yet close to the heart of shopping and beach. I did not mind that this hotel was far away from everything, but I did mind the dingy towels, non functioning air conditioning (loud and not cooling), grouty bathroom, poor lighting, moldy walls, murky swimming pool and overall depressing lobby. Maybe once upon a time this was a 4 star hotel, but definitely is not now.

Great hotel. I booked a single room but on arrival was informed the singles were all booked out and I got a free upgrade to a two bedroom apartment. Breakfasts were great, wide selection of food to try, and all very tasty. I did eat at the restaurant a few times, food was basic but still very nice. The hotel itself is out of the way a bit.This was my first stay in Bali and I got really turned around. I still couldn't tell tell you how far it was from the beach or the town centre. I mainly got about in Taxi's. Cost about AU$5 to get into town. At the end of the day this was a good thing, to be able to retire to a nice quiet hotel and not worry about noisy neighbours was a blessing. Pool was beautiful, only thing, the deck chairs were in the shade so sun baking was off the cards. Although you can catch plenty of rays at the rooftop restaurant, which has plenty of space to playback and relax The only drawback was the wifi service. I had to get passwords every time I wanted to log into the wifi which got a bit tiresome. (I later learned how to log out using my iphone, which may have assisted a great deal had I figured it out earlier) The service was painfully slow, although I was soon to learn that is the norm for Bali. We booked for Deluxe room but they upgraded us to 2 bedroom suite ( they locked one bedroom so we only can use the main bedroom ). The toilet kinda small and the tissue container falling apart and the housekeeping couldn't bothered to fix it. Internet service is terrible, unstable connection and each time only last for 3 hours. So after 3 hours we […] have to ask new password again and again. Location is far from eatery and shopping place. They put a very strong deodorizer in the bathroom. The entire room smelled like it. It is so strong that the bathroom towels smell like them. The bathroom was also a bit worn down. Other than that, included breakfast was amazing, and service was good.

The hotel wanted to charge us to fix it and we had to fight a bit to convince them that it wasn't us who had damaged it. I stayed at Umalas residence with 5 friends (aged 22-26) for 9 nights. At first I was a little bit hesitant booking this hotel because it was not on the beach, but that ended up not being a problem at all! We had such an amazing stay at this hotel. Our villa was clean and spacious having 3 bedrooms two bathrooms a tv with many channels, fridge etc. […] Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious. It was a buffett with fruit, omelette station, pancakes and many Balinese dishes. There was always enough food and it was fresh. The staff were really helpful and even when we made a mess of the room or something went wrong they were happy to help and never made us feel like a bother. We took the free shuttle in the mornings to the market area and from there we could walk to the beach in about 15 minutes. We also hired scooters and took ourselves around bali. If I go to Bali again I will definitely stay at Umalas as it is so reasonably priced and really a great atmosphere. Подробнее

The Umalas need great improvements to make it attractive to customers. For the one the hotel is over-priced. The Suite that I stayed should be restructure to have a better toilet/shower. The living room is too large with a kitchen as the emphasis of the Umalas. The Toilet/shower is so inconvenient and small for any kind of suite. The walkway to the […] room entry needs improvements. The service was excellent, the communication with the motel organising a collection from the airport, baby cot in the room and high chair. The shuttle was good and prompt but could run a few more times each day into Seminyak. The little shop, hairdresser , massage and warung were excellent. It was only a $3 taxi ride into Seminyak so it was close enough […] but far enough away to not have any shops or sellers driving you mad to buy. Also very quiet ant restful. Apart from the towels which look old and very worn out, the hotel is very comfortable with very helpful and warm staff. Breakfast is good too if one does enjoy Indonesian food. The hotel is unfortunately not well located and one needs to call taxi in order to explore the city. But for the price, I would recommend staying in this hotel.

I won't get into much detail, other than to say that we walked away from a 2-night prepaid stay after only one night. We so wanted to get away from this hotel experience that ditching our second night's charge was worth it. I should explain that staff was good and eager to help. Alas, they couldn't find me a single satisfactory room after 3 moves! […] We finally settled for a room that backs onto a cow-filled farm (no joke), and had 3 loud crickets inside that serenaded us all night. Sorry to say it, but we were so dissatisfied with the condition/ location of the hotel that we didn't even try to get a refund for the un-used night. P.S. WiFi was impossible to catch. I stayed at Umalas with 2 friends and we had an amazing time. Not only were we able to relax true tropical style with cocktails by their glamourous pool but the hotel staff were happy to help us out on our tourist ventures. The hotel staff provided their cars and a driver for full days of sightseeing at a very reasonable price. We were treated like […] close friends. The staff are incredible, the room was divine, the pool/spa/day spa/gym were all excellent. And the food and drinks were perfect! I stayed in this hotel for 5 days the first day when I arrived they kept me waiting for more than an hour because they could not find my reservation, which I did through Expedia. The room I booked was no longer available so they said they were going to "upgrade" me to a two bed room lockoff. What they did not say is that I could only have acess to one […] of the rooms, they locked the other one. Cocktails ain't good at all, food is tasteless, pricey (compared to restaurants on the area) and takes ages for them to prepare it. Onmy 4rth day of stay we were running late for a tour, and I left one of the bathrobe on the bed when I came back they had cleaned the room and done the bed, not really well I must say (as when you walked around you could fill the dirt they left behind on the floor) , with the surprise they took the bathrobe away and did not replace it. Next morning when i was checking out they asked me to pay for the bathrobe!!!!!! Even after I explained what had happend they went to check at the cleaning lady history but she did not have any registry of the robe so they asked me to pay. Since I declined and I quote the guy the manager "since it was our staff mistake we will cover half of the robe price, so you only have to pay for half of the robe" In the end I had to pay as they dint want to refund my deposit until I payed for the robe. This hotel was totally not what we expected. If you are in the mood to stay in a hotel with no soul that has no character whatsoever then this is the hotel for you. It looks like a random suburban condo complex that could be found anywhere in North America. We had such a terrible room. Our "balcony" looked directly at a wall. No view of anything...not […] even the pool. And the bathroom had some kind of sewage problem. It smelled terrible. We were really sad as it was the beginning of our trip - when we asked to change rooms it was a big deal for the people at reception. Finally they showed us another room which we turned down as it smelled like a stale ash tray. The location isn't bad, you have to take a taxi to get to the main part of Seminyak and there is nothing of interest in the area. Again...this hotel is totally bland and boring. It's just generic and would only suit people who don't want to feel like they're in Bali. Also, I misplaced my bank card and had to make a 20 minute phone call to Australia to cancel it. I asked reception beforehand how much it would cost to connect me. When I got the bill it was over $30 Australian dollars. I told them the price I was originally quoted and they explained that the person who told me that had made a mistake...I was forced to pay it. Would not recommend. The pictures are deceiving. What a pleasant surprise! From the start the staff at Umalas gave us a five star welcome. We extended our stay for the rest of the holiday and was everyday welcomed […] with the same warmth and professionalism, the two and three bedroom units are so spacy, modern, clean and comfortable. The food is highly recommended and we end up eating there most nights. The hotel provide a free shuttle to Kuta one way, have to be booked the previous day. Taxi fare in late morning was roughly 24 000IR to Seminyak. What a lovely surprise to get a full packed breakfast on the morning we flew out early to Perth. New Hotel but not great in amenities. 1. No Hot Spa 2 The Worst Asian Buffet I have ever had, 4 Hot boxes, no sweet danish pastries, watered down one choice fruit juice a day. No coffee unless they get it from the bar area. Lots of staff all not doing much. 3.Hotel meals awful. Taste like frozen meals heated up, price okay but out of a party of five […] 3 of us have been sick. 4 Hotel away from main hub of seminyak 5. Shuttle What Shuttle, the day we asked about it there was no driver 2 vans sitting in car park. 6. Room sterile, we stayed in 3 brm apt, ultra modern but impractical, no tea towel, wash cloth, detergent, saucepans, kitchen utensils only knives and forks. 7. Staff no English you have to ask things three times and then still cant get through. 8. Pool well maintained and grounds, a very clean place but nothing to do here at night. 9.Heaps of staff but no one comes near you at the pool to take drink orders, you have to go into bar and order thats after you ask them to come out and take your order. No Swim up bar 10. The only entertainment is a large screen with video hits at night, they would be better off getting rid of some of the staff that do nothing and book an entertainer. Spa treatement was good about 40 dollars Australian for 2.5 hours Room is big two bathrooms, lounge and dining and balcony which is hard to find but facilities not worth it. I wasn't impressed with this hotel. The 'down' escalator was broken (seemed for some weeks), reception insisted I have a print-out of my booking before check-in. This was difficult because I usually make my reservations as I'm travelling so I don't have access to a printer with my laptop. A new hotel and already seeing signs of maintenance issues. Glass shower door scrapoing against tiles - if opened with force would quite possibly smash. Terrible Buffet breakfast - inedible, except for the eggs which are, like all Bali hotels, cooked to order. Biggest frustration was going to check in on a Sunday afternoon and waiting 1/2 an hour […] for our room because they reservations team was CLOSED. `We stayed at Umalas Hotel & Residence for just one week at the end of our Bali trip. It was lovely and peaceful and the perfect place to chill out by the pool and was only 5 or 10 mins by car to the best restaurants in Seminyak. We did change rooms though after 3 nights as the one […] bedroom studio is rather small and dark and our family were coming out for the rest of the week so we moved up to a 3 bed penthouse which was great with the kids. Could do with more room for clothes though and more coathangers, only 1 provided so take your own. The staff were wonderful and remembered us by name from day one! The day our daughter arrived on her birthday, we had a small birthday party with cake and photos in the bistro outside and when we got to the penthouse there was another surprise cake in the fridge for her! They are very thoughtful and we would like to thank them so much.. This is a small hotel with a beautiful pool and lovely staff and I would recommend this for anyone wanting to chill and have a bit of piece and quiet or to explore the Seminyak area without being in the centre of it. Lovely hotel... Nice, new, clean place. A little out of the way but nowhere a taxi can't take you. About 15 mins to Seminyak with Bali's traffic. Certainly a very nice place to stay. Great value too.

Opologies for the delay with this review but I would like it noted we thouroughly enjoyed our stay here, so much so we extended our stay by a couple of days, Staff were exerllent and nothing seamed to be too much trouble, food was great and although we only booked breakfast we found we ate a lot of our meals here as well. Although a little way from the real tourist centres this was no bother at all taxis are cheap, thought of hiring a car for our stay but it's more fun watching Bali, a car. A tour guide driver for an 11 hour island tour was around $NZ50. I spend 4 days in the hotel and the 2 room bedroom was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was perfect and had a lot of dishes to taste. The drivers, receptionist and all the employees were very friendly and helpful...they definitely made my holidays an excellent experience.

Very clean neat hotel, excellant value and was a pleasure to be there. Staff very helpful even though the laguage was a slight problem . A little out of the main area but dont let that put you off. Easy access by all main roads and just abvout 1 Km from restaurants in Pettitinget road.
