The Castle at Skylands Manor - Рингвуд

In the botanical gardens and beautiful castle.. Typical guest house bed and breakfast type share a bathroom. Bathrooms clean halls cld use a vacuum. It's an old building you need to be into that! I thought it was perfect but I like something different.

We were really looking forward to having a romantic getaway at a unique location. This property has a lot of potential, but the management is far from where they should be. There were holes and cracks in the bathroom walls. Many of the electrical outlets in the manor also seemed to be out of order. The bed mattress felt like sleeping on a cot. Breakfast was fine. We had a wonderful stay at the Castle. It felt like being in King Arthurs court but with the conveniences of modern times ie heat, indoor plumbing. I would recommend it to anyone!

It is such a lovely location, very pretty and has a nice castle feel to it. The only problem is that there are no curtains in the room and the light in the hallway comes through the door window, right into our eyes. my friend and I recently stayed at this hotel and it was a castle. We were upgraded from our original room to another larger suite. While it was a beautiful room and we appreciated the upgrade the place was absolutely freezing and there was NO hot water for a shower , even after 10 minutes of letting the water run.

No good restaurants or bars around, which made it even better. There was a wedding so we didn't get to try the food in the castle however ambiance and rooms were great. Just make sure you book a room with bathroom inside, bathroom outside is not so convenient although was clean and well mantained.

I booked a room here as a last minute weekend getaway. We could not have been more thrilled. We stayed in one of the suites and it was fantastic. The rooms and furniture take you back in time and as silly as t may sound, you feel like lord and lady of the manor. The rooms are large and very comfortable. It was a cold rainy afternoon so we were very glad to be warm and dry in our room. The breakfast in the morning was very nice and the two guys working in the kitchen came out when we arrived and asked if we wanted a freshly made waffle. Who could say no to that. I was informed by my bank prior to our departure that my credit card had been compromised. When you check out, you just have to drop off your key. I wanted to make sure they were paid. The young man working in the kitchen was the only staff member on duty. He was very helpful in making sure that my payment was recorded. We could not have been happier with our stay. I read some other comments that the place was noisy. Our room was very quiet. We slept like royalty only being woken up by the rising sun. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. My boyfriend and I wanted a little escape from the madness of life and roommates. I had known of the NJ Botanical Gardens/ Skylands for my whole life, but never got to see the manor house. The staff […] was extremely friendly and helpful. As a history buff, I went around the house looking at the details of yesteryear and geeking out throughly. The house is not just a hotel, but a work of art and piece of history on par with San Simeon and the Vanderbilt mansions. We had dinner and wine (that we brought) on the patio as the sun set. We then retired for the night. I had paid for the basic double bed and shared bathroom, but, by accident or intention on their part, we got a queen bed and private bathroom! The grounds are amazing, to say the least, and it is very easy to get lost in wonderment here. The only thing that could have made the stay better was a little more creative breakfast platter, but seeing as we were the only two guests, I can't blame them for not going crazy. This place is straight out of the Great Gatsby with all the elegance and prestige for a very good price and amazing setting. Подробнее

Incredible. Great price, beautiful space. We came to watch the meteor shower and it was a fantastic place to gaze at the sky. Staff was very friendly and we roamed a castle all night long. Just try it!

Well it was pretty and the man who was there in the morning was wonderful he gave us tea and bagels earlier than breakfast started bc we were so hungry! He was very helpful would def like to go back didn't get to really enjoy it bc we were all rushed for wedding !!very helpful with bags no elevator !!!

The grounds and "castle" are amazing to look at. We stayed here for a wedding and I felt like I was the guest of a queen when I first arrived. Wood paneled walls, marble busts and fireplaces, and well decorated rooms really impressed. To bad the service was just barely acceptable. The tile in the bathroom doesn't look like its ever been scrubbed and the make-shift AC outlets were supported w duct tape and "hidden" w contact paper. The AC dripped over the main entrance the whole time we were there; I'm still curious how the bride exited the building for pictures with out getting wet. although it's cheap, small room, no private bathroom, totally uncomfortable. even the bathroom is too small and not clean enought. The location of the hotel is hard to find, on the top of the hill. even the residents under the hill don't know such a hotel there.

The building itself is gorgeous. I actually felt that I was staying in a castle. The room we stayed in had some "aging" issues, but overall really clean. The surrounding gardens were unbelievable. I wish I could have stayed longer. Friday night the staff was really helpful and made sure we got everything we needed. but I don't think I saw one person […] who worked the front desk on Saturday. What a great location and building. However, we stayed at the Knights Suite and found the room underwhelming. Not properly maintained. Also, our toiletries basket was suppose to have 2 of each: shampoo, body wash, conditioner and lotion. It had 3 conditioners and 3 lotions. That was an honest mistake, but when we asked the attendant for shampoo, he […] came back with 3 body lotions. Not well managed (workers seem to all be students on summer break). Be ware that this hotel is really far away from the NJ Transit Bus Stop at Ringwood. If you are not driving, the ONLY option you have when you get off the bus is to get a lift from others. (Of course, you can walk to your hotel but it is about 2 hours...) No local taxi service. Hotel is nice and unique but pricy.

Hotel and grounds are beautiful, everything was clean and well prepared, staff was helpful and courteous. The only issue is I could not connect to the internet for my e-mail, but that meant I had to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. I WILL stay here again, both for business and leisure

This hotel is beatfifully located in the middle of nowhere. It has rustic charm that makes it well suited for weddings. Lush gardens, friendly staff and all the luxuries of the early 20th century. And that the catch. When you are at a wedding you probably are so drunk that you wouldn't notice that the showers are cold and quite frankly not ver clean […] either. I have lived in frat houses with better hygiene. Old pieces of soap all around, a yellow sheen on all appliances and so on.add to this, if you are not a wedding guest, somebody else will. well this is the only time i have had an entire castle at my disposal. since i was the only guest staying that night they upgraded me to a suite which was quite sumptuous. had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area

Unique comme expérience, le manoir est splandide. l'extérieur comme l'intérieur est unique et remplie de vécu. À moin 1h15 de New-York, l'expérience et la tranquilité de l'endroit est d'un contraste phénoménal avec la grande ville. Le service est nickel, bobby est très efficace!
