This hotel's location is great; literally around the corner from a subway stop and in the Lower East Side but also very close to SoHo and elsewhere. Hotel was clean, modern, and comfortable. Lobby exquisite. Room I had could have used some small work in it but overall totally clean and fine (wood floors look like they've been flooded previously? little […] warping...could use some touch up paint but very clean). Nice bath products and my bathroom was private - some other reviews complained about a glass wall for the bathroom. Mine was normal and enclosed. Room size was comfortable and not surprising - decent for NY in fact! Free wifi - perfect signal even on 5th floor - free breakfast (though slim pickings 15 mins before close) - free bottle of water. Was here for fun but would also be suitable for business. Complaints were: one elevator which was also slow, sparse breakfast, and since the rooms/halls have hardwood floors there is some overall noise (i turned on a white noise app on my phone and was fine). This is the second stay I've had at the Hotel East Houston, which I selected again because of it's amazing lower Manhattan location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. While the rooms are very small and basic, this is a standard for the city. What is different is that in spite of this, they are comfortable, very well maintained, and quiet - even though […] you're facing a major city street. It would be a great improvement to equip the rooms with a safe and a closet/drawers. The continental breakfast is very basic, and wanting, but there are so many restaurants and delis in the area, I'm hard pressed to figure out why you'd partake in it other than to pick up some fruit and pastry to take with you for an afternoon snack! The hotel is run by professional staff, very pleasant and very helpful. The room is small but is expected in NYC unless you are willing to pay much more or travel long distance to where you want to go. The hotel provide continental breakfast which include fruits and a variety of cereal, yogurt, bread, croissant, bagel etc. You can have a big breakfast […] and skip lunch. The hotel is very conveniently located, 2 minutes from subway and 3 minutes to bus stop. There are also plenty of small eateries around. The neighborhood is safe and you can walk around late evening and still feel safe. The only thing is there are road works right in front of the hotel. I stayed in the hotel twice early Dec. One time the room is at the back so not affected by noise of the road work. One time the room was right in front of the street. I thought the road work would wake me up so did not set alarm. Perfect location in a great neighborhood full of things to do. Note that the rooms are really small. I would highly recommend a mini fridge and iron be added to the rooms. For the price I think thats reasonable.

This hotel was "good". I usually don't like to use that word but it seems to fit about right. The bed was very hard as if I was sleeping on a box spring but I slept peacefully for two nights. This hotel provides great access to SoHo. The rooms were small, which I come to expect in NYC hotels, but I may not stay here next time if traveling with a companion. For a single business traveler, the room was sufficient. The service was good and the hotel provided all of the amenities that you would expect.

Service was very nice .Close to where I wanted to visit, walking distance to Soho and other areas steps away from the F train which takes you North or South in the city. room was small but nice carpet seemed a little dirty.I would stay there again.

Built with cheap materials and it shows. Many nicks and scuffs on woodwork. (Imitation wood, that is. Wallpaper loose in places. Rooms so small that storage was an issue. No outlets at desk area. Hallways are dreadful Pluses: Nice, helpful staff. Proximity to subways. Reasonable rate. Nice Baths.

good hotel in a great location , only one block from Katzs delicatessan. also there is a great coffee shop across the road - Bluebird. We stayed in room 608 it was noisy due to the plant equipment for the hotel being on the roof above us.

Loved this location - right in the middle of a great, young neighborhood. Good for 20s - 40s. (Maybe not as good for travelers with kids.) Lots of fun shopping and excellent food options!

Very good value in good location with very convenient public transport. Only complaint is that breakfast was just ok. Also, rooms are small--the size worked for this solo traveler and would probably be ok for couples, but might not be comfortable for friends seeking to reduce expenses by sharing a room.

Stayed here for two nights while in manhattan and was very impressed with the service, the neighborhood, and the rooftop patio. The bathrooms were really nice and the room was clean. The only negatives was that the room was really small and the bed wasn't very comfortable. But for the price it's the best place I'm the city to stay.

First, I would stay here again. It 3 short blocks to the subway. It is easy to find once exiting the subway. It is close to Little Italy, Chinatown and SoHo. There is a grocery store just a block away. It was clean. For NYC, it was quiet. (It is NYC after all. There will always be sirens and car horns no matter where you are.) That being said, the […] rooms are small. I was travelling alone and was not planning on spending much time in the room, so it was fine for me. The hallway into the room was about 6x3 ft. Off the hallway was the bathroom. It had a very nice shower (shower only, no tub) that was about 2x3 ft. The floor area in front of the sink/toilet was about 1x2 ft. I had a double-sized bed. The floor space around the bed was about 2 ft. in each direction. There was a shallow closet and a cubby hole under the closet. The wall with the window was covered, floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall, with a curtain. The bed was relatively comfortable, for a hotel bed. I would not want to sleep on it for an extended time. Temperature was controlled by a thermostat on the wall that let you select the actual temperature you desired, not just heat and cool. Breakfast is in a room in the basement. There are a few two-person tables, some nice couches, a TV and 2 or 3 computers. Breakfast was a combination American/European breakfast.
