hotel staff are accommodating, speak good english. wifi in room is fast but intermittent. bed sheets are not being fixed and just replaced once in a while. elevator is working but a little old. continental breakfast is ok but it's the same everyday. location is good. just right for its price considering it's quiet expensive in Stockholm

Very disappointing. Shared bathroom with taps with no handles so unusable. Lift only stops at limited number of floors.

The hotel staff was friendly enough, but I'm pretty sure they were high. The room was nasty. This is not a hotel, it is a hostel. I have stayed in plenty of hostels, and this place takes the cake.......1 bathroom per floor, used by everyone, I don't think it has ever been cleaned. Door to room wouldn't lock. When I've done check-in, the room has been using by an another hotel. Then thet have change the room. Except for this it is an average hotel.

The hotel itself is very old and has some lovely period features, ornate coving above the doorway of our room, original ceiling roses, high ceilings and a gorgeous stone spiral staircase. A bit far from the center but if you enjoy walking it's fine. The staff was nice and breakfast included. Only stayed there one night but it was comfortable. The room without private toilet is more like a hostel room.

Very poor. Small bare room with no tea or coffee making facilities and nowhere else to get any refreshments until breakfast. Basic metal bunk beds (single room), no towels and no running water from the sink in the shared toilet. - one tap did not even have a handle. This is more of a hostel than a hotel, by hostel standards it's good. No wc or shower in our room that I dont think was clear enough when we booked!!!!

i stayed for five nights and no one cleaned my room at all during that time. also, the communal toilet was clogged for two days without any one fixing it. i understand that it was the weekend, but come on, there are fundamentals you have to take care or even on the weekend. on the upside, the location was good and the cost not exorbitant.

first they gave us a dorm room with a shared bathroom when we had booked a triple room.. on onsisting they changed it and that too without a 'sorry'. then the bathroom choked the next day and the room was stinking.. but they said they were helpless, we have to stay and use the bathroom on either the upper floor or the lower one. Imagine doing that! […] and obviously as per them the bathroom choking was completely our fault. I travelled with my partner and my two brothers. We stayed in a room with two single beds and a sofa bed with own toilet and shower. We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The location was brilliant, right next to the city center. Unfortunately the hotel itself wasn't that great. Our room had 2 single beds in it, a tv that was so high up on the wall you couldn't see anything and we were accompanied by our great little friends...the bed bugs. the first two nights we shared the floor with a class of german youths, keeping us awake half the night. The third night it was a group of party girls doing the same thing. There is no isolation against sound, we got a small refund, but concidering our vacation was close to ruined as we slept so poorly, the refund should have been close to total. I would say that overall this is a very decent hotel. It's in an ideal part of town where where old town is only 15 to 20 mins away walking and the main pedestrian shopping street Dottninger is only 10 minutes away by foot. The view out the windows makes you feel like you are living in Stockholm in an old colonial apartment. The room was comfortable […] and clean. The only complaints are the maintenance. It is a little run down, nothing that really bothered me or affected the stay, but this is really more of a recommendation for the owner to renovate in some areas, for example, the elevator is ancient. Other than that, it was somewhat expensive for College Student for me, but it really wasn't a bad deal if you split the night and especially for its location, it really was decent. Breakfast could be a bit more varied like some more cereals and if some nutella could be provided, would be great. The fact that the word "hotel" is mentioned in the title of the Colonial is misleading. This place is a hostel. In fact, the jailhouse style bunk beds in our room, reminded me of the minimum security prison I stayed at in Norway 2 years ago. You had to make your own bed upon arrival. The room was freezing. The toilet outside our room was styled in the […] Alcatraz look--post Native American occupation, circa 1970-- no hot water, bubbling plaster. Whoever burnt their toast at breakfast made it possible for the smell to reach our room on the fifth floor... the place is just an old dump. The staff were nice and helpful but there is only so much they can do. We had no hot water (after a week-long hike in the Arctic Circle we were really looking forward to hot water!), the elevator only worked sporadically, the coffee machine was broken, the internet was down...you get my point. If you like small, this is your place. The bathroom was so small, I had to sit sideways on the toilet because the shower was so close. The room had a bed, small table and one chair. It was clean and close to downtown Stockholm, but that was it's only saving grace.

The hotel is located not far from the central train station and Arlanda Express. It's a cosy little place with an atmospheric old flair. The staff was not too talkative but very polite, Internet worked once I got a code, breakfast was nothing fancy but not bad either. The room was very nice and clean with an interesting view over the city.

stayed here for one night whilst on business and the hotel was great as it was in a excellent central location plus it was really good value. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good too. alli in all, its a great budget option.

The Colonial is in a great location on a nice block. The room was decent sized and very clean. The staff was not overly friendly, but they were helpful when you needed it. Lodging is typically quite expensive in Stockholm. If you prefer not to spend a fortune on a hotel, then the Colonial is a very good option. Since it is a budget hotel the rooms are small (I was in a single room) and amenities are limited, but that is what you should expect from a budget hotel. The location is excellent. You should be able to walk to […] any destination in central Stockholm if you choose to do so. The train station is less than a ten minute walk from the hotel. I was on the street side of the hotel, but there is not a lot of traffic so not much street noise. I also did not hear much noise from rooms above or below mine or from rooms on my floor, so pretty good soundproofing. Breakfast was good and plentiful--bread, cheese, meats, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, vegetables, juices and coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sunrise comes early in the spring and summer in Stockholm, so window coverings that do a better job of blocking the light would be nice, but that's a small quibble. Ett enklare hotell, men vårt rum (som vätte in mot gården) var lugnt, rent och med bekväm säng. Inte så stort men helt Ok när man bara ska ha en bra sovplats. Dusch fanns på rummet. Frukostbuffén var helt tillräcklig och fräsch. Vill man shoppa längs Drottninggatan eller ner mot centrum är avståndet inte långt, inte heller till Centralen. Helt ok, bra personal, men droppande kranar från duschen och oväsen från något när man spalade vatten på toan. Svårt att få mörkt i rummet, väcktes av att rummet var ljust på morgonen. Bra läge, lätt och snabbt att gå till Centralen.

Dåligt att man inte kan få fram kaffe/te bara för att en säkring gick. Man borde kunna koka lite vatten och brygga kaffe vid sidan om.Bröd till frukost borde kunna vara lite grövre frallor innebär ingen större kostnad.Annars var hotellet bra för en kort övernattning.

It is very convenient to go to the central part of the city from the Colonial. Breakfast is nice, with a variety of food, better than some hotels in Northern Europe I have stayed during our tour. What is disappointing is the room with shared bathroom compared with its price.

Sköna sängar. Centralt läge. Mysigt för att det är en gammal miljö, men i stort behov av renovering. Tyvärr var de extra pumparna för toalett och badrum väldigt högljudda och därmed störande. Frukosten var mycket tråkig (endast torra rostmackor) samt dåligt organiserat då det var många gäster som ville äta samtidigt i det lilla frukostrummet.

Olin varannut kahden hengen hotellihuoneen, mutta huoneeni olikin neljän hengen hostellihuone, jossa wc ja suihku käytävällä, eikä lakanoita ollut pedattu valmiiksi. Seuraavaksi yöksi sain vaihdettua huoneen (lisämaksusta) hyvään huoneeseen, jossa oli oma wc ja suihku ja pedatut sängyt.
