Гостиница соответствует заявленной категории 2 звезды. Качество обслуживания хорошее. Расположение отличное, но рядом расположены пабы и по вечерам бывает очень шумно.

Прилегающий бар был шумным. Баррели наполнялись поздно ночью на следующий день (100 баррелей). Ванная/туалет был очень узким, в ширину с унитаз. Дверь ванной/туалета нормально не открывалась, так как в конце останавливалась о кровать. Интерьер был немного грустный. Занавески были грязные. Не то, чего я ожидал от отеля в центре города. Мы были не впечатлены отсутствием приветствия по приезду. Никакого предложения помочь с тяжелым багажом. Никакого направления в комнату. Комната и ванная нуждались в свежей краске, так как стены были в пятнах. Бросает на запятнанную кровать. Двери шкафов все в царапинах. Я люблю старый здания, и немного характера еще никому не мешали. Это отель, однако, очень разочаровал. В душе и ванной была какая-то мерзкая черная плесень повсюду. Краска с потолка в ванной отваливалась от влажности (на самом деле отваливалась). Ковер, казалось, 100-летний и никогда не был пропылесошен. В кровати была впадина, будто 400-фунтовый человек […] лежал на ней годами. ТВ был крошечный (не то, чтобы я езжу в отеле из-за телевизоров) и прием на нем был ужасный. Grassmarket был последним отелем, в которым мы остановились, после наших 20-дневных каникул. Отель был запушенный. Я использовал этот отель уже дважды, второй раз не оставил таких уж приятных впечатлений, но он в центре и разумная цена.

Очень хороший отель с хорошим расположением. Комната была прелестной, но нужно обратить больше внимания на чистоту душевой кабины. Все остальное было отличным и я буду более, чем счастлив рекомендовать этот отель.

Расположение отеля превосходное и вы получаете то, за что платите. Сотрудники регистратуры очень любезны. Все достопримечательности Эдинбурга в пешей доступности. Лифт идет только до 1-го этажа. Так что если вы на 2-м или выше, то вам придется несьти свой багаж по коридорам и лестницам. Это раздражает. У меня была одиночная комната. Очень маленькая. […] Ванная была маленькая. Комната была чистой, но старой. Есть бесплатный интернет в лобби и на первом этаже. Есть бар на первом, очень шумный. Мне было слышно его в комнате по ночам, но я включил вентилятор в ванной и он заблокировал шум. Если бы я поехал опять в Эдинбург, то я бы потратил немножко больше на лучший отель. The internet did not work and had we known that would not have stayed. The neighborhood was at a convenient location, close to everything. The floor in the bathroom was 'soft' and felt as if you put much weight on it, you would fall through. The hotel staff were friendly and very nice.

The rooms were very small and the decor was dated and as it is a very old building the access to the rooms was not good. This is more like a hostel than a hotel

I was very pleased with the location and quality of this hotel. There was construction, and it did impact the community hallways; but the price more than made up for the mild inconvenience. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the grass market hotel for 3 nights, the first night was horrendous, the room was dirty, very dated, no views and very dark. We asked if we could be moved and they couldn't of been nicer, we were moved to one of the refurbished ones. It was lovely, quirky wall paper, clean, modern, excellent veiws, over all very cool. The hotel is situated brilliantly, next to a pub that you can enter after closing time through the hotel, where also the breakfast (very fine btw) is served. In the middle of the medieval town. The personnel is super friendly and willing to answer all your questions. Especially Lizzy needs to be mentioned here, thank you. There was supposed to be a kettle in the room but it was missing. There were teabags, coffee, sugar sweeteners but a kettle. Must have been an oversight I hope. On the bright side, I wanted an iron and i got one brough t to my room. I hope they can replace the iron table cover as it was rather tacky!

The staff were excellent. Very Helpful. The hotel looks very tired. Needs abit of maintence. i.e. heated towel rail not working. Lamp shade broken. Space for hairdryer but no hairdryer. This hotel is centrally located amongst many of the tourist spots. It is old and quaint - which means some of the fixtures, etc. are in need of some repair. The internet is only available in the lobby and wasn't working at all while I was there for 4 nights. I did find my room door ajar, because the housekeeper wasn't careful, when I returned at the […] end of one of the days, so be careful with valuables. I suppose this kind of thing is to be expected so my only real criticism is that they forgot to give me a wakeup call on my last day which (had I not also set an alarm clock) would have made me late for my plane. Right in the heart of Edinburgh.... If you are one that basically only uses the hotel to sleep in then this is perfect, otherwise you may find it a bit small and the wifi did not work whilst we were here.

Friendly, helpful receptionist. Clean, comfortable room. Competitively priced rate. I would recommend this hotel to others and would use again myself.

hotel excellant value given its central location close to castle and excellent restuarants. But avoid opting for optional breakfast the worse full scottish breakfast experianced quantity but no quality served as a crowded plate of mush.

Right at the corner of Cowgate / Grassmarket this hotel is at a great location. The room was very small, and the heater in the bathroom did not work, but we got a space heater to cope with that. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Very central to castle and shopping areas, plenty of pubs and eating places near by all within walking distance

Hotel was clean but the room was a little dated. Close to numerous bars and pubs but very little problems with noise in our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff, rather basic hotel, but in very good location. My room was on third floor (had to climb two flights of stairs and walk along several corridors).

The receptionist had our info ready when we arrived rather late in the evening, about 10pm. We had to literally go through an indoor maze to reach our tiny hotel room, though. It is in Old Town Edinburgh, very short walking distance to the Royal Mile, and the Grassmarket area. Very close to Edinburgh Castle as well, and about a mile from Holyrood house. It is quite a distance from the Bus station, you could walk, but with luggage, it is too far. We took a taxi to/from the hotel & it was NOT expensive (in May/June 2010). The hotel could use some updating, but it is in Old Town, so I imagine that could be quite difficult. We had a decent bed, hot shower, and good service in the perfect location. This is a good hotel for a budget stay in Edinburgh. It's not cheap, but it was the least expensive I could find. Edinburgh is not a cheap city. The hotel was in a great location within easy walking distance to all of the sites and only about a 10 minute walk from the bus that goes to the airport. The hotel was in good condition and my room was comfortable […] except for the mattress. It was by far the worst mattress I have ever slept on. It's hard to describe, but there was a huge hole underneath my knees where it sunk down and the entire upper half of the mattress sloped down into this hole. Central to Edinburgh with a bargain price to boot. May not be the trendiest hotel but what would you expect for the price!! Bargain if you only need a bed to get your head down after a night out...

Although THE Grassmarket hotel is in a really convenient location, the hotel itself does not match up. The reception area was filthy, and although the staff were very polite and helpful, the condition of the hotel was extremely poor and vastly overpriced.

This hotel is in a great location...close to the Royal Mile, not far from the train station, and right in the Grassmarket Square. The front desk service was good, and there was a room to hold my luggage until my room was ready later. However, the hotel is somewhat dumpy. My room was small and a bit dark. It is what it is. Older place in a fantastic location. If you're looking for a place to sleep and take a shower, this will be fine.

this hotel is in the Grassmarket, a happening section of town with lots of great places to eat and enjoy fantastic european beer. the people were friendly, the room was clean, the bed was SO comfy and it was within walking distance of some great areas. stay at this place and enjoy being in the heart of Edinburgh!

Our room faced the main street. I had read the warnings, but didn't heed them. It is very noisy at night from patrons leaving the clubs below. The plaza in front of the hotel is pleasant, and I like being in the older part of town. Quite a walk from Waverly - all uphill. We loved the location of this hotel. We were within a 5-15 minute walking distance of every attraction that we wanted to see. However, given the price that we paid, and the terrible quality of the hotel, I believe we could have stayed at one of many other hotels in the area and had a better stay. The rooms are small, with the worst beds I have ever […] slept on in my life. The mattress felt like a pile of rocks with a sheet pulled over it. We did not recieve any of the wake up calls that we had scheduled, and there was not an alarm clock in the room. There were not elevators that accessed all of the floors/sections of the hotels, so it made it extremely difficult to move luggage upstairs and downstairs. I did not feel as if our belongings were all that secure in the hotel room, as the room could easily be broken in to. We shoved on the door about 3 times after having locked it, and the door opened. In addition, the hotel was fairly dirty, old, and in need of lots of renovations. The reception at the hotel was not that great, and we were treated pretty rudely by several of the receptionists. I also did not like the fact that you could not take your room keys with you, you were required to leave them at the front desk, otherwise you would be charged a massive fine. I read all the reviews on the hotel and still decided to stay there. I've stayed at hostels and figured I could deal with just about anything. As others have said the hotel is a little run down. I could live with that. When I got off the elevator onto my floor, I noticed that the floor was on a slant and when I reached my room the effect made me very […] dizzy. Also my room could have been a little cleaner. The location is terrific however, i stayed at another hotel in that same area earlier in the week and feel there are other options out there. Es fand schon schlecht an: sie gaben mir die Schlüssel für ein vergebenes Zimmer. Das Haus ist das reinste Labyrinth. Der TV ging auch nicht. Die Heizung auch nicht wirklich. Ich hatte wirklich sehr kalt. Auch kein Internet. Die Lage war das einzig Positive...
