It is a two star hotel that offers descent enough accomodations; neither the best nor the worst. The room was clean but it did have an old, musty feeling to it. The furniture was a bit old as well. For breakfast they served make-your-own waffles, which were great, sausage, so so potatoes and powder egg squares. They also had bagels and toast with cream […] cheese, jelly and butter, which you can't go wrong with. They allowed dogs for free which was a huge plus. Besides the elevator smelling like a dog, the rest of the hotel did not smell like dogs. It is not the worst hotel but we would have appreciated a slightly cleaner place and a bit more updated. "overall good value for the money"
Good location for shopping...all the big box stores are represented there. Not a good neighborhood for walking. The proximity to the historic district is less than 5 miles. We found it convenient enough to visit downtown savannah and we also took a day trip to tybee island. The La quinta was a conversion hotel and the rooms were a little smaller than […] we are used to. The hotel wwas busy and is getting a bit tired. A reno will be neccessary in the coming years. The Breakfast area was too small for the amount it needed to serve. "Rough Shape and Horrible Smell"
The hotel was pet friendly but our room smelled of smoke and an awful cover-up odor. The bed, furniture, and bathroom fixtures were all in very rough shape. The sink was starting to fall off the wall and the toilet paper fixture and shower rod had multiple holes in the wall near them. The first room I was assigned smelled very bad and the manager was very helpful in finding me a new one. The motel looks a little used--carpeting stained in the elevator and hallways. It was a pretty nice overnight stay, starting with the cordial girl at the desk, the ease of check-in and the cleanliness of the room. I was rather disturbed in the morning when I went down to the breakfast and the man who appeared to be the manager was scolding someone loudly on his cell phone in the breakfast room. I left for 15 minutes to ensure […] that he'd be done with the call, and then went back, only to find that a lady was shutting down the breakfast at 9:05AM. It's your typical "pretty on the outside, okay on the inside" hotel. Obviousely an older hotel but maintained fairly well. Good variety for breakfast options inthe complimentary breakfast. There was a dog show in town that weekend and there were dogs everywhere in the hotel. They were not very distracting at all to my surprise. My wife and I were returning from a trip to Florida. We generally look for a hotel with inside rooms and decided to try hotels.com to book in advance. We see the LaQuinta adds almost daily on TV and decided to give this hotel brand a try. The hotel was old and poorly maintained. The room we were given first was in rough shape and had a perfumed smell. […] Upon fruther examination we found that it was a smoking room (although we asked for a non-smoking room). We went back to the front desk and the person in charge was more concerned about the towels we may have used than pleasing us. He had to run upstairs leaving us to wait while he inspected the smelly room. We finally received another room and it was clean enough but falling apart with the wallpaper coming off the walls and the grout in the bathroom put on several times and in large clumps. "TOO MANY PETS"
I understand that people sometimes are required to travel with their pets; however, my parents and I appeared to be the only people who did not have a pet. I stayed at this hotel for 4 night's & would stay there again in a heartbeat. I had business in Richmond & Petersburg so I purposely booked this room in between both cities. The hotel is very easy to find right off I-95. The neighborhood was quite the hotel & room's were in tip-top shape. Well worth the price. Plenty of gas station's near by. The only […] down fall was is that ther were NO decent resteraunt's nearby,only a couple of fast food joint's.However if you travel south on RT.1/301 a few miles you will find plenty of places to dine.This hotel is directly between Richmond & Petersburg. This La Quinta was very much a 5 star for my husband and I. The room was large and luxurious but most importantly it was clean clean clean! The bed was soft and the pillows were plush. Appeared to be an older hotel which had been cosmetically updated. It was reasonably comfortable and clean. The mattresses were a little firm and upon pulling back the sheets, we discovered they were VERY stained, discolored, and looked ancient, this could have been due to the hotel accepting pets.
