The grand king room was pretty outdated, bed sagged in the middle, fixtures worn but all in working order. Location is great, walking distance to all of Launceston cbd. Breakfast expensive, plenty of other options nearby.

I had good expectations of this hotel, so was very disappointed. There was no hair dryer, the room was stuffy and to open a window meant braving the howling wind. The "airconditioner" was a portable unit with loud timer and loud fan which was very disturbing to my sleep. Also one of the bedside lights was broken. But the worst was the restaurant. They […] just couldn't cope. We obliged by waiting in the bar for half hour till the supposed rush was over, this was a table for 13, there were only 8 others in the restaurant. We then waited another three quarters of an hour in the restAurant for a grill. apparently they had a lot of room service orders as well but surely a professional hotel with a Professional kitchen can tell from the hotel bookings what is likely to be the workload for the kitchen. The attitude was those in the restaurant should just put up with it. No real apologies or attempts at compensation for such a long wait. A bit sad ! Подробнее

One of the larger hotels in Launceston. Nicely located in the center of town. Friendly staff. Decent sized room. Air conditioned. Highly recommend partaking in the buffet breakfast.

we enjoyed our weekend stay very much. the staff were extremely helpful. I even had a phone call the day before we flew to Tasmania to ask which type of bedding we would like! Buffet Breakfast was magnificent! Highly recommend this delightful hotel !!

The hotel foyer is nice, but the room was very tired looking. The bathroom was overdue for a good clean, not just the standard wipe over that they've likely done for the last 15 years. There was no central air conditioning, instead a small portable unit in the corner that struggled to keep the temperature down during the hot weather that we had.

The first night we were put in an old outdated room. the second night we were put in a brand new room. It was fantastic and was like being in 2 seperate hotels. The lady who made the coffee in the restaurant was delightful.

Excellent hotel in Launceston. My rooms on two stays were renovated and very comfortable but I heard from other guests that older rooms very pretty bad!

My stay in this hotel was comfortable. Breakfasts were good (full). Access to internet is very poor - WIFI is available only in the main lobby area. Wired internet is available in rooms. Both WIFI and wired internet are hideously overpriced ($27 a day). WIFI should be free in quality hotels (In much of Asia, the USA and South American countries it is […] free - even in many European countries). Australia and the UK seem to be almost alone in gouging exhorbitant amounts for the use of internet in hotels. This is a big minus for tourists. The room was noisy - it was near the lift well (always ask for a room away from the lifts - it might be a bit further but avoids mechanical noises and noisy customer who chat endlessly late at night saying goodbye after leaving the lift. The room had a adjoining door (locked) to the adjacent room, which allowed far too much noise from the customers in that room to come through into my room - including normal conversation, TV and snorirng. On a minor point, the hotel offers only one sugar substitute (saccarine). This is the cheapest sugar alternative, and its sole presence in rooms / dining room cheapens the hotel feel - how about updating to some modern alternatives, which taste MUCH better such as the branded Equal or Splenda (both good). I would not personally include the "trendy" Stevia products - it is being touted as "natural", but if find it tastes bad to me. Подробнее

This hotel is listed as 4.5 stars. It is in dire need of an upgrade with dingy corridors and rooms. Our room was dusty and the bathroom very dated. The breakfast menu was disappointing, so much so that we ate out after the first morning. The bar was closed at 9.30 in the evening. We booked this hotel on the basis that it was a 41/2 star hotel however the room amenities were far from 41/2 more like 3 star. We paid an extra tariff for 3 adults ( my husband and myself and our adult son )to share the room however other than an extra bed there was no provision for a third person. We had to ask for extra cup and saucer, glass etc […] . We paid a fee for parking for 2 nights only to find that when we returned after an outing that there were no spaces for us. When I enquired at reception I was told that it was a public car park and it was too bad even though we had already paid our car parking fee. We had not been informed that this was a possibility when we checked in. Overall it was a very disappointing experience especially since we had paid a considerably high tariff to stay here. The hotel was conveniently located within town, close to city park. Bed was not very comfortable and the single upright unit of AC was most unusual for a hotel.

I lived at level 2, the water pressure was so low, and the water was so slow from the tab. Not worth for 4.5 stars. They can't guarranty your parking space which was frustrating after a long drive trip. The reception was good and helpful.

This was a decent hotel with great customer service. I would recommend it if you visit Launceston. The staff was very friendly, and the room was very nice. The only thing is that the layout of the room made it feel a little small. Other than that, it was very comfortable. I would recommend this location to anyone traveling to Launceston.

Suprising Launceston. We wher very suprised at how much there is to see in the city of Launceston. We didn't have a car so walked everywhere and our four day stay was jam packed. Definately will go back. Great shopping, pretty city and lots to do.

Having been recommended this hotel when I specifically asked for an amazing place to stay in Launceston, I must admit that my girlfriend and I were rather disappointed to find ourselves staying in somewhere so old, staid & chintzy... The hotel foyer was all marble and fountains, but once in the room, it was like being in a Holiday Inn... Unfortunately […] having checked in late, we were not aware that the hotel actually had refurbished rooms available, for only $30 more per night. We therefore moved rooms for our second night and were much happier from then on. On the plus side, the location was ideal; the breakfast, at $25 each, was very tasty and plentiful; and the receptionist who greeted us, Jarred, was delightful and extremely informative. The positive thing about this hotel is that it is in a great location, close to city center and City Park and on a quiet street. The room is good and clean. The down side was that during our stay, the hotel was under renovation, so the shops on the ground floor looks uninteresting, and the carpet was wet. The staff we met would respond if we had a […] query, but they were obviously uninterested, but unfriendly and cold. Stayed for ten days whilst on a seminar. Sometimes the service in the resteraunt was slow, but the food was lovely. Bar kids great. Room servicing ladies lovely. Back enterance to city centre convenient. (great Mexican lol) lovely eateries around. 10 minute leisurely walk to city centre.

Reasonably good hotel, however nothing special... a bit dated...were hoping for more. Annoyed that we had to ask twice for the special "Taste of Tasmania" welcome pack offered with the room (cheese selection & bottle of sparkling - quite good in the end...) Will definitely try their competition next time we happen to be around Launceston.

When we booked the Hotel, we were not aware that some renovation work had been going on and will continue till few months later. After we checked in, we found the notice that the noise could be a nuisance. Unfortunately our room was just below the renovation site, and my wife was awaken sharpy at 9am by the drilling noise.
